Can you help us with Ben’s £960 surgery costs?…

Bill & Ben have one of the strongest bonds we’ve ever seen – read their incredible story and see how you can help us with Ben’s £960 care costs.

A kind member of the public initially noticed Ben as a stray struggling to walk and limping his way around the streets, clearly suffering and in lots of pain. An inspector was called to collect Ben, then along came Bill! Bill was fighting his way into Ben’s carrier and it was clear these two stray cats were bonded like brothers and couldn’t be separated.

So just like that, Bill and Ben started their RSPCA journey as a duo! Both were transported to the vets together for an initial assessment and it was confirmed that Ben would need immediate pain relief. It’s strongly suspected that this poor boy had been hit by a car and left on the street with no help, he must’ve been in a significant amount of pain.

Ben’s x-rays showed he had a fractured pelvis and that his left side femeral head (hip ball joint) was totally shattered. It was touch and go for a couple of weeks, as we thought poor Ben may lose his leg …but this tough little chap has shown such strength and resilience and recently received the all-clear that an amputation wouldn’t be necessary but surgery would still be required to reduce his pain.

Whilst in our care, we’ve been moved to tears at just how bonded this pair really are. Bill has been Ben’s emotional support assistant every step of the way. They’re so affectionate with one another and are constantly playing or enjoying a cuddle together in their cattery apartment!

For this reason, Bill & Ben will need to find a home together. They’ve been through so much as street cats, that it’s only right they get to enjoy a happy future in a loving forever home, where they’ll never have to suffer again.

His operation was a success and Ben is now being cared for in one of our fabulous foster homes. He will remain on pain relief and meds until he has made a full recovery and may have a permanent limp but fortunately, this won’t affect his quality of life. We’re delighted that Ben is making a recovery and that Bill was in good health on his arrival too. However, all of these x-rays, veterinary assessments, surgery costs and pain relief meds have come to a current total of £970 to our Charity and we expect this to increase before Ben is ready for adoption.

If you’ve been moved by this story, we would be so grateful to anyone who can donate towards Ben’s care costs. Our local and self-funded Centre wouldn’t be able to help cats like Ben without the generosity of our incredible local community and donors. Thank you for reading this story and making a difference to the lives of local animals in need. Every single person who donates has played an integral part of Bill & Ben’s journey from the streets, into our care and eventually into their loving new forever home… and we think that makes you a superhero!

We’ll be back soon with more updates from this adorable duo, keep your eyes on our website if you’re interested in adopting. If you can’t donate please share to support. THANK YOU!
