On Sunday 8th September we held our annual Elderly Animal Rehoming Scheme (EARS) day at our Animal Centre in Halifax. The event is held each year in celebration and in thanks of our fosterers, and adopters who have adopted their animals through EARS.
The scheme aims to pair elderly dogs and cats (aged 10 years +) with prospective adopters who might otherwise be hesitant to take on such an animal due to financial implications or who are unable to commit to a puppy or a kitten, by offering reduced price adoptions and treatments for members who pay a nominal monthly fee. We have seen many of our older animals, who we know have just as much to give as a younger cat or dog, be adopted through the scheme. We loved catching up with many of them on Sunday and seeing how much they are loving life!
We were really pleased to welcome so many people on the afternoon, who enjoyed some delicious cake and refreshments and chatting with our staff. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the attendees for joining us. We are so grateful to those who are willing to give older pets a chance!
