Our Vision
We are a self-funding branch of the RSPCA responsible for raising money locally to support our animal welfare work. Our main aim is to rehabilitate unwanted, abandoned and abused animals and find them loving, permanent homes. We rely on public donations and the generosity of our local community to keep the doors of our animal centre open.
Our vision is to continue our work in:
Rehabilitation Rehoming Education Welfare Assistance Raise Awareness
We work alongside the national RSPCA inspectorate with our animal intake but we also share the same vision: The RSPCA as a charity will, by all lawful means, prevent cruelty, promote kindness to and alleviate suffering of all animals.

Our History
Through the care of our highly trained and dedicated staff and volunteers, and our fabulous network of fosterers, we are able to care for around 1,000 animals each year. We have teams of volunteers who sit with our cats and kittens to keep them socialised, and others sit with the dogs in our special ‘home’ room, enabling those dogs who have never known a home environment to get used to every day sounds. Our dogs are walked twice a day, undergo training and spend time with staff in the offices.
What We Do
Once an animal is brought into our care, our highly trained staff and volunteers work tirelessly to prepare them for re-homing; each animal undergoes a health check and behavioural assessment, then follows a training and/or rehabilitation plan to get them ready for their new loving homes.
All the animals in our care – past and present – are very important to us and we’re proud to offer on-going guidance and practical advice to both new and existing pet owners who adopt from us.
We’re committed to doing all we can for the animals in our care and never put a healthy animal to sleep. We only euthanize on vet advice for health or aggression reasons. As a proactive local charity, we also operate unique schemes that benefit both adopter and pets, including the EARS (Elderly Animals Re-homing Scheme). This was created for animals over 10 years old that suddenly find themselves without their beloved owner for a multitude of reasons.

Our Objectives:
– To continue to rehabilitate and rehome as many local animals in need as we can
– Continue to raise our own funds within our local area to maintain our Animal Welfare work and support our running costs
– To continue our welfare assistance and education work within our district area.
– To never put a healthy animal to sleep and provide the necessary health care and attention for every animal in our care
– To maintain and hopefully expand our work for animals in our care and animals in need within our district area.
